An artists’ haven for more than a century, Laguna Beach, California has evolved into a renowned destination for world class artists, festivals and galleries. There are also more than 100 public pieces of art created by local artists which you can enjoy while you are out and about exploring the area. This time last year, I was lucky to travel as a guest to this beautiful location. The weather was pleasant, the people friendly and the time away so relaxing. A welcomed Lasting Impression.

Treasure Island Beach

A view down onto the Montage Mosaic Pool. Whether you’re staying at this beautiful hotel or just passing through, I would suggest pausing for a drink and then walking along the paths and down to Treasure Island beach.

Pelican Hill at Newport Beach

I was a guest and played the Ocean South course at Pelican Hill. Challenging golf, spectacular views and exciting elevation changes. Maybe not my best round of golf, but overall, this was a very memorable experience.

Public Art

This sculptural handrail, “Sight and Sound” by Raymond Persinger, reminds us to be present and appreciate every fleeting and fragile moment. “Life Force”, an underwater mural by Dora de Larios and “Voyager” by Linda Brunker, proudly faces the ocean

“Boy and Dog” by Ruth Peabody, was the very first piece of public art installed in 1935. “Grace” by Terry Thornsley, is a wall mounted bronze sculpture which honors the brave dedication of the area life guards. “Time Connected” by Scott and Naomi Schoenherr, is a wonderful piece with interlockings wheels, ceramic tiles, and local plants.

Newport Harbor

We had time to take a cruise around Newport Harbor, seeing some of the islands that lie inside the Balboa Peninsula. Our late afternoon cruise finished just as the sun was setting which was a great way to relax before dinner.
