Holiday Impressions – Joy

Joy

Welcome to the third week of Advent. I am concentrating on Joy this week. Christians around the world decorate with lights, wreaths, ribbons and evergreens during Advent. Finding light in order to brighten the surrounding darkness during this season is a beautiful tradition. I have never had a face-to-face encounter with an angel but I have felt their presence. When events come together so beautifully, or when you see an angel working through a human being – rescuing me or pointing the way out of a situation. Sometimes I’m guided in my reading and find just what I need – or a friend offers a timely word that fits my situation perfectly. An Angel provided a special message of Joy to Mary, creating a lasting impression, which I have highlighted below.

And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.  And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.

Luke 1:30-31

Take time to be joyful! I loved experimenting with acrylic paint on some square canvases creating images of angels in thought, prayer, singing, and playing music. Then I prepared color copies of the images and made some cards to send to family and friends. Allow yourself to experience and record a Lasting Impression of something tangible or creative and either send some Joy to someone you love or create some art together.

Shells along the beach on Sanibel Island, Florida

Taking a walk wherever you happen to be is always a Lasting Impression. I was able to enjoy some of the advent season on Sanibel Island, Florida a couple years ago. The amount of shells along the shore is mind boggling! Going barefoot is an option, but your feet will thank you later if you wear some protection. Angel wings are found in abundance in all sizes and colors. I encourage a visit to the National Shell Museum if you have time.
